This week we have reflected on different aspects related to the baptism of our Lord but also our own baptism. We know that baptism is an outward act symbolising the inner acceptance of Christ that reconciles us to God. Baptism allows us to give visual testimony of our commitment and devotion to God. Just as a wedding ring is a symbol and reminder that we “belong” to another, baptism serves as a reminder that we belong to Christ. It shows the
world that we love, trust and have put our hope in Christ. Some may say that baptism is the first step of discipleship.
Baptism is also a representation of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism washes away our sins, and we are forgiven and given new life in Christ. Our baptism is a special dedication to God. In baptism, we are blessed in the name of the Holy Trinity, which affirms God’s blessings on his children. We are connected to the body of Christ at baptism, joined with other believers in our spiritual journey. Through faith first and then
baptism, we find salvation and unity with Christ.
How are you demonstrating your faith to the world?
