The Year As A House
Think of the year
as a house:
door flung wide
in welcome,
threshold swept
and waiting,
a graced spaciousness
opening and offering itself
to you.
Jan Richardson
As we enter a new year with the caution of the last and the possibilities of the next, reflection brings purpose in this fleeting and liminal time.
The scripture for this week requires us to reflect on our own gifts and those of others who form our community. Many of us may have felt disjointed from our communities as we have lived out our lives in the isolation of our own homes. So let’s spend some time thinking about what has been illuminated in this time which may make way for new ways of being this year. How can our gifts and those of others be used for the common good of all? Where
has God been leading you in this time?
Take a few deep breaths, allow yourself to arrive at this moment. Let go of all your expectations. Close your eyes and go through the weeks and months of last year. Is there an important event, family gathering or project that stands out for you?
Take some time to think about completing these sentences:
The biggest surprise of last year…..
The most important thing I did for others…
The biggest lesson I learnt…..
The word or phrase that describes last year……
