During Advent, we do not only wait for the coming of Jesus at the Nativity – the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. Advent is also a period where we wait for the coming of Jesus at the end of time. This will be when God will renew the face of the earth completely, and he will introduce us to a New Jerusalem. This is a place that will show the beauty of God and where we will spend eternity with him.
The quotation for today’s reflection says to us that, while we wait for the Advent of Jesus and his second coming, we can begin to build the New Jerusalem in our hearts, our homes and our places of work. We can seek to show the glory of God in how we live, in how we interact with our friends, our family and our colleagues.
The invitation for us today is to take some time to reflect on how we are showing the splendour of God to everyone we meet.
How are we building the New Jerusalem in our hearts and our relationships?
