THE JMPD HAS PROHIBITED OUR JOHANNESBURG MARCH AGAINST XENOPHOBIA PLANNED FOR MONDAY 21st MARCH.
KOPANANG AFRICA AGAINST XENOPHOBIA WILL GO TO THE HIGH COURT WITH AN URGENT APPLICATION TO OVERTURN THE PROHIBITION?
THE MARCH WILL NOW BE SHIFTED TO SATURDAY 26th MARCH
This morning, the JMPD informed Kopanang Africa Against Xenophobia (KAAX) that our march is Prohibited. The stated
reason is that Operation Dudula has been issuing and circulating messages of intimidation and threats of disruption and violence directed at KAAX, our march and any so called "illegal" migrants who participate. The JMPD took this decision despite the fact that KAAX's notification process (under the Regulation of Gatherings Act) followed all relevant procedures to the letter.
Kopanang Africa Against Xenophobia (KAAX) will be holding a press conference this coming Sunday (20th) at
Constitutional Hill starting at 10h30, as part of the Human
Rights Festival.
