“I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.” John
14:26
John 14:23-29
This gospel reading has focused on the love of God. Our love for Jesus shows in our actions and our words and confirms to the world that God is at the centre of our being, our everyday life. God is in us and with us for eternity and along with the Holy Spirit, we know that we have peace in our heart.
This gospel is a reminder of that, of the effect of God’s presence in our life.
The disciples knew that Jesus loved them, not only had he told them this many times, he had showed them too, numerous times. How wonderful to know and to feel God’s love? To wake up each and every morning to a new opportunity for him to work in our life, a new blessing and so much to be grateful for?
Jesus loves us unconditionally, sins and all. Nobody will ever love us this much, not our family nor our friends. The greatest gift we have is God’s love and God’s peace. We can never replace this and it will never be withheld from us. Such a gift, such a blessing. What would our life be without this love? What if Jesus had never loved us? In the world’s turmoil and in our own inner chaos,
Jesus, through the Holy Spirit is with us and guides us and makes us strong.
Dear Father,
Help us to remember that you love us and are with us no matter what. Your peace transcends all and your love encompasses all. Thank you for your gracious gifts and blessings.AMEN.
