Daily Reflection
Thursday, 28 April 2022
“But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing, you may have life in his name.” John 20:31
John 20:19-31
We are all wounded in some way or form. Our society at large is wounded, yet we do not or cannot admit this. We are unable to admit that we are part of a wounded humanity that needs healing. Perhaps being wounded puts us in a bad light, makes us look weak. Yet being vulnerable and being in touch with our scars, makes us more compassionate and open to
healing.
God meets us in our vulnerability with his everlasting love. When we identify and acknowledge our wounds, Jesus is there to meet us, to share his woundedness with us too. Jesus heals our wounds and our vulnerability. Our human woundedness is an important part of our faith journey. Pope Francis reminds us too how wounded humanity has become: “Wounds need to be treated. So many wounds! Mercy
first means treating the wounds.” God’s grace and the love of Jesus changes us, even the most vulnerable and wounded parts of us. This in turn, brings us into community and unites us as a wounded society. Perhaps that is the real message of the resurrection today, the call for us all to be wounded healers, just as Jesus is.
Take time today to reflect on being a wounded healer. Are you able to perceive the wounds of others?
Do you allow the warmth and light of Christ to pass that passed through his wounds to pass through yours?
Dear Lord,Jesus,
