St. Paul tells of the wealth and inheritance of the kingdom of God and that it includes all things. Therefore, we need not fear anything because all things are of God and through God, and as we are part of the kingdom, we are guaranteed an inheritance. As a result, Christ and salvation through the cross need to
be celebrated and shared.
The death and resurrection of Christ allow us to live with great confidence and joy that Christ is putting right all that is wrong and that we should be working with Christ to bring about justice, peace and reconciliation for all. We have been given peace by the works of Christ, not by our own works. Christ has set the example and is the model we can follow in this work. We know who
Christ is and can therefore be confident in his victory.
In this passage, Paul emphasises the preeminent authority and power of Christ, that Christ is the Lord, the King. He suggests that as Christians, we were made to worship Christ and will be in darkness unless we do.
As we prepare and look forward to the Advent season,
the invitation is to reflect on who and what Christ the King, the Messiah, is to you.
How will you prepare for his coming as we enter the season of Advent this weekend?
