“A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.” (Matthew 5:14-15)

Matthew 5:13-16

As Christians, our words and actions must match and make us shine. There are many examples of men and women whose lives changed when they heard the word of God. So likewise, the lives of other people around them were influenced and changed, reflecting the goodness of God they have encountered in their personal lives.

A personal encounter with God transforms us for the better; it makes us a city on a mountain that cannot be hidden. An encounter with God pushes us to a life of service to God and God’s people. We do not have to be the smartest, well spoken or most talented people to be like this city on a hill that cannot stay hidden. We are called to be transformed as we are. To live authentically, from our true selves. 

How might you be like this city on a mountain? How has a personal encounter with God transformed you? How might your life draw others to God? Ask the Lord for the graces you need so that you may become like this city at the top of the mountain.

Lord, 

thank you that you never cease to reveal yourself to us. 

Help us to be transformed by encountering you so that others might be inspired and choose to follow you.
