I remember a very dark time when I was excluded from work I had invested in over many
years. I was walking on the beach, pouring out my frustration and pain. Suddenly my eye caught the sun glistening on a small piece of rock. I picked it up, and at that moment, I sensed God whispering my name and saying, “I promise I am taking care of you. Trust me.” I carry that piece of rock with me to remind me of that promise.
The gospel says every hair on your head has been counted. God knows us that intimately. Do you know how many hairs are on your head? I certainly don’t, but God does!
God knows everything about me, so God understands exactly what I am going through and its impact on my life. Jesus uses another beautiful image, “not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father knowing”, and “You are worth more than hundreds of sparrows”.
Today's message is very clear. As followers of Christ, we will face hardships, sometimes small and sometimes very big. But if we truly do what we are doing out of love for God, our efforts will be rewarded in the end. And while we wait, God is with us every step of the
way!
What helps you to remember and hold onto God’s promise to care for you?
