At the end of the story of Noah and the flood, God makes a new covenant with Noah and his offspring and all humanity — a new start. Noah was obedient, unlike Adam, and he was richly rewarded; we were richly rewarded. God will never again destroy humanity by way of a flood.
The season of Lent allows us to start again. In Lent, we
are invited to spend more time reflecting on our lives, to notice those aspects and areas where we have lost or have a weaker connection with God and others.
Most of us have a cellphone or a device that needs a network connection. It is incredibly frustrating when we are having a conversation or trying to make a call and the signal is weak or intermittent, with calls “breaking up” or dropping. We must move to an area with a
better signal to make a coherent call or send a deliverable message.
We can look at our commitments, relationships, service to others, faith community, prayer, and our relationship with God in the same way. Where is the signal weak? What is breaking up or dropping? We need to be in a place where we can have solid, strong connections. Lent is a good place and time to give ourselves a new start to re-establish that which we may have
weakened over time.
Today, you are invited to look at your life. Where do you feel God may be calling you to make a new start?
