While Jesus has been dazzling the disciples, his Father overshadows them. Light and dark are both instruments of the Lord, who loves all into being.
The call is to listen. Listen to the Beloved – the First, the one who has been loved since forever.
How do I listen? Do
I set aside time to be in the presence of the one who made me and loves me?
Jesus is the beloved, but I am called to be like him. I, too, am loved – regardless of who I am, what pressure I am under, what I have done or not done, what I look like or how I feel.
God’s voice is the call of one who loves intimately and without reserve. The voice on the mountain invites us to
listen and be aware of Jesus's presence even as we follow him out of the moment of revelation and back down the mountain to our everyday lives. While the presence of God may be less evident at some times than at others, it is no less there. The challenge – especially in our busy world – is to make the time to listen, to open ourselves to the infinity of love to whom we are called.
Make space for God today. Find times when you can
relax, even for a moment, and listen to God and the voice calling you to listen to his Son. Give yourself moments of silence and possibilities for reflection.
