Of course, the disciples eventually found out what rising from the dead meant – and spread the word accordingly. We might be less confident.
Of course, we know that Jesus died and rose again, but what does that mean to us in Lent 2024? Is it a dim and distant historical event, mumbled by rote in the Creed each Sunday, or is it
something more immediate?
Am I genuinely alive in Christ, or are bits of me effectively dead – shambling through encrusted routines like a zombie in a B-grade horror movie?
What are my thoughts, beliefs, and relationships with God and those around me? Vibrant or in need of resurrection?
Are there areas of hurt,
areas of loss or places of numbness and death in my life that need to live again?
What does resurrection from the dead mean to me now?
I review my life. As I walk towards the promise of Easter, where is the Lord who loves me calling me to life? Am I prepared for the offer of Resurrection? More disturbingly, do I want it?
