As we draw closer to Easter, it is important to remember why the Lord came to live amongst us as one of us. What was God’s motivation or reason to send Jesus into this messy world?
I believe the reason is love. Jesus came to save the world because God loved the world. God chose to love and save us because of God’s merciful
nature. As members of the body of Christ, we extend this love and mercy we receive in our relationships and service to others. God’s love and compassion should propel us into action and give us the necessary courage.
What response are we making to this love of God? “Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19). Our response is not always good; we are
challenged, and we are weak people. There is darkness in each one of us, and this affects how we respond to God, to his love and mercy. Jesus comes into the world to love, not to judge or condemn. We must never forget this.
As we continue our Lenten journey, the Lord invites us to move out of the darkness and into the light. We must allow God's mercy and forgiveness to shine light into our lives, especially the dark corners, to help
restore our relationship with God. When we do this, we will be able to respond to God's love in a manner that deepens our awareness of God's presence and action in our lives.
What response are you making to the Lord today? Ask the Lord for courage and strength to help you respond in love.
