“Come and see”. This is an important invitation to be with Jesus. It is interesting to me how Jesus doesn’t give reasons why they should come or try to convince them. The invitation is open and unconditional. The disciples are invited to form a relationship with and actively learn from Jesus and get to know him. They come, and they remain with Jesus.
This is an open invitation to us, too. We are invited to come and see and to remain with Jesus. There are no conditions, tests to pass, prerequisites or qualifications needed. Jesus invites us to come as we are and to stay with him. There are no strings attached. We are offered a simple invitation to experience God and all that God has to offer.
We can expect and accept that our lives will change when we receive
this invitation. How can we not be changed when we spend time with God, immersed in the Word, covered in love and grace? Our faith and understanding will develop as God works within us, our community and our world. We will be inspired and transformed as we experience Jesus as the Messiah.
Will you accept this invitation today?
