As people, many of us love to share things and experiences. Take a look at FaceBook, Instagram or the like, and you will see evidence of this. These social media platforms allow us to share our lives and excitement virtually. In the time of Jesus, people would have to share all their news physically.
Andrew followed Jesus, and after
spending some time with him on that day, he was convinced that Jesus was the Messiah. His excitement was uncontainable, and he went to find his brother, told him who he had found and brought him to Jesus to show him, to share his “find”.
For Simon, this was a turning point. Meeting Jesus changed everything for him. His life was transformed, not only in name but in all that he was and would become. As Peter, he became a true follower of
Christ, the one on whom the church was built.
Let’s look back at Andrew, though. Andrew is the example that we should be following daily. He consistently shared the news of Jesus and brought people to meet him. Andrew shows us that to be a disciple we need to accept the invitation to be, follow, and stay with Jesus; to love and trust him; and to share his message with others.
Who will you share Jesus’ message with today? How can we become better disciples?
