We return once more to consider the intimate experience of the Eucharist and ponder our response to its meaning.
One thing that stands out in the Eucharist is the reminder that Jesus was truly human. Jesus was not spared the anguish of what he was about to do. In explaining what would soon happen to his disciples, Jesus would
have been cementing the gravity of what was unfolding in his mind and heart. He would have understood the pain, suffering, injustice, and loneliness. Yet Jesus also knew that this was the only way for us to be unburdened from our guilt and run into the open arms of God. He knew we could not keep trying to earn God’s favour through endless rituals that never brought us freedom. So he chose to open the way for us to be one with God out of immense love that can only come from God.
That is the message of the Eucharist.
Jesus chose to offer us unconditional, intimate, everlasting LOVE.
Take a moment to ponder what Jesus is inviting you to notice today and consider speaking with Jesus about this:
Is there some deep sense of guilt holding you back from drawing close
to God? Could you surrender it to Jesus and find freedom to be loved?
Are you struggling with an addiction or a harmful habit or attitude that is destroying your life and relationships? Could you let Jesus journey with you as you seek help, healing and wholeness without judgement?
Are you struggling with your self-worth or the thought that God cares for you?
Consider the fact that Jesus gave himself for you.
Perhaps you have been reminded of Jesus's gift to you, and your heart is filled with gratitude. Spend time expressing this to him.
