Sometimes, we may experience God as absent from the world, a judge ruling with harshness and retribution from afar. How could one possibly trust such a god? How could one wait patiently for the seeds of the kingdom to grow with such a god? It is very hard to give ourselves into the care of such a cruel, distant, and unknown god.
The
parables we have reflected on this week tell us something completely different. God is present and involved. God is there in the seed, germination, and growth below and above the ground, generously bringing us to fruitfulness and service. What abundance we see in God. God does the growing; we participate.
Our God is present, supplying all the needs of Creation: the earth, light, warmth, air, water, and especially the energy of love,
which makes life possible. God, who created us in an overflowing love, allows us to participate, collaborate, and co-create to share the sheer joy and fulfilment of creating in love. We are part of the growth of the seeds within us, with all their potential.
We come from God, and we are invited back to God. God gives us free will. How could we make that choice if we had no knowledge of God or if what we thought we knew was not
God? Will we entrust ourselves with confidence into the hands of God now? Let us nurture the seed that God has given us all. The kingdom is present now. Let us seek to link the seed in our hearts to God’s heart and be fully part of this kingdom.
How do I see the Kingdom of God now?
Is this a kingdom in which I would delight to be?
What kind of king is our
God?
How am I invited to be a co-creator today?
