Try to picture this moment. The voice of the Creator of beauty and order speaks out once again to his creation against chaos and fear: “Quiet! Be still!” I wonder what tone of voice Jesus used. What did it sound like in the raging storm? I believe that even if he had whispered, his creation and the forces of evil would have heard and obeyed. Complete calm comes out of thorough
chaos.
Think back to a time when you were afraid and desperate, when you panicked and cried out to Jesus for help, perhaps even accusing him of not caring. How did Jesus come to your rescue? How did he restore your world and calm your storm? Turn to him again with these memories.
Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions
never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore, I will wait for him.”
