The words “just as he told you” are a nudge for the disciples to remember. Remember what Jesus told them because it has happened just as he said it would. Remember!
We, too, are called to remember God’s promises, especially in those times when we feel that there is no end to the challenges we face. Remember his words, “And if I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:3) He said, “Because I live, you also will live.” (John 14:19) We hear “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26) Hold tight to this: “And surely I am with you always.” (Matthew 28:20)
These promises give us the strength to keep our eyes on Jesus and know that he is in control of everything. Jesus is Lord! Nothing, not even death, can keep us from him.
Remember that Jesus is risen, and we, too, will be resurrected in, through, and with him.
