It all begins and ends with God, who is constantly at work. Notice how Jesus distinctly says, “The Father sent me” and “The Father draws them(us)”.
Jesus says it is all God’s work, wishes and desires: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them”.
God takes the initiative today and every day, drawing us to Jesus through his Spirit. This happens constantly—when we sit down to read the Scriptures, pray, get up, go out to work, and serve.
However, with the help of the Spirit, we need to respond to that invitation of our own free will. God draws us because, in his great love, he wants to heal and restore our brokenness and give us the true and better life he originally
intended for us. He wants to raise us from our lives of hardship and sorrow to a life of peace and joy with him, now and forever.
We can take great consolation in the fact that God is drawing us.
When you look back on your life, how has God drawn you to Jesus, and how have you responded?
Notice how and where God is drawing you
today.
In what ways are you responding to or answering God’s invitation today?
