Jesus confronted the Pharisees and scribes about their lip-service worship of God and their lukewarm spirituality. “Lukewarm Christian” refers to someone who says they are Christian but does not practice or live according to Christian principles. The Pharisees did this. Jesus called them hypocrites because they worshipped only with their lips, yet their hearts and lives were far away from the
Lord.
The Lord invites us to worship him not only with our hearts but also with our words and actions. We please God when we obey his word and honour him when what we say and do reflects what we truly believe in our hearts. We believe in the Holy Trinity, that God is our Father, and that God’s love for us is unconditional. We are invited today to examine our beliefs to see if our lives reflect what we truly believe.
Take some time in your day to reflect on your core beliefs. Ask the Holy Spirit to inspire you and enlighten your time of reflection. What do you believe in your heart about God and how is this expressed in your daily living?
