Is this text about perspective and re-evaluation? Perhaps the invitation is to look at the value we place on the things of the Earth. Those things may carry a different value in God’s Kingdom. The things valued in the Kingdom of God differ from those in society and communities.
Is giving all that we have the expectation? The
evaluation of economic situations needs to be altered. Perhaps the question to be asked is, “How is what I give going to be used?” Are we giving to support those things that are valued in the Kingdom of God? Things like soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and relief organisations where God’s people benefit.
What about our time? “They” say, “Time is money.” Perhaps volunteering our time in outreach projects is a more constructive use of
our resources. Giving our time touches the humanness in ourselves and those we interact with.
Today, we are invited to re-evaluate our perspective on giving. How can what you have to offer better serve the needs of God’s people?
