So far this week, we have learned from the example of John the Baptist. If we surrender our hearts to God, God can use us no matter who we are, what we look like or where we live. God creates and loves each of us uniquely and builds a relationship with us. Soon, we find we are able to live as a people of hope. As we journey into Jesus’ embrace, we become filled with joy that gives meaning to
everything we do. It is not just being happy all the time. The joy is the recognition that living together with Jesus enables us to become more fully ourselves and find contentment partnering with Jesus.
How often might a Christian say, “l will pray for you”? Praying for someone raises joy in us as we place the person in the safe hands of Jesus. We know that even if our prayer requests are not always accurate, Jesus responds in a more
appropriate way.
There is joy in sharing what Jesus has done for us and encouraging someone else to let Jesus into their life. We know that doing this can never harm the other person, but rather, it can bring answers to their greatest need.
We experience joy when we hear from others what Jesus is doing in their lives. Jesus does not diminish as he gives of himself. We need
never fear someone else might be getting our share. The more others experience Jesus, the more we are all blessed.
In an often selfish and self-centred world, it is a great joy to see the openness and generosity of the Christian community, into which everyone is welcomed, loved, and cared for. Joy is experienced by both the giver and the receiver.
Joy is a gift from God that
keeps on giving.
Where have you experienced the gift of joy?
Remember these moments with a grateful heart in Jesus' company.
