Surrendering our hearts to Jesus is not a passive, sentimental response. It is intentional and active. As we let go and let Jesus live within us, the unity between Jesus and ourselves and other Christians becomes increasingly apparent. It all comes down to one common denominator—grace. We are all partners held in the loving grace of God, gifted to us through Jesus.
This partnership is fuelled by the unconditional love Jesus shows us. We do not and cannot earn it. But filled with Jesus’ love and grace, we can love others with that same unconditional love. The more we surrender ourselves, the more we can love from the presence of Jesus, who lives within us.
This love leads us to find compassion for someone in need we do not even know. It drives
us to respond in some way. This graced love enables us to give without counting the cost, share what we have with another, and find forgiveness in our hearts for someone who has hurt us.
As Christians, we are called to defend the Gospel, and undoubtedly, the best way to do that is to live out the Gospel in our actions and attitudes through Jesus Christ.
A world that
experiences graced love through our partnership with Jesus becomes a world filled with hope. The world may not fully understand it, but it will be drawn to its fruit.
Think back to when you saw someone in need and responded as though it was the most natural thing to do.
What led you to respond?
How did you feel as you responded? How did the recipient
feel?
Did it have an impact on more than yourself and the other person?
Where do you long to make a difference or show Jesus love? Speak to Jesus about your longing.
