This is a natural, gentle, and intimate interaction between Jesus and the children, demonstrating first-hand any child of God’s acceptance and happy reception.
Take a few moments to imagine this scene with Jesus and the children.
Hear their liveliness, chatter,
laughter and joy as this grown-up not only rebukes other adults for chasing them away but welcomes them and is delighted in their presence and interaction with him. Watch how they gather around him, are welcomed into his arms, and even sit on his lap. See how he pays attention to all and each of their questions and interacts with them individually. Imagine how they look into his eyes, notice his loving care and listen attentively to his words. Imagine the feelings evoked in these children at
this moment.
Now imagine yourself as one of those children and the attention Jesus gives you. What does the moment look like for you? What do you notice/see and hear? How does it feel?
As you search his face and feel his hands upon you, imagine how you want him to bless you now. Tell him your needs and desires. What do you experience as he fulfils them
with a patient, accommodating smile?
Record the experience in your prayer journal.
