Peter is astonished by the unbelievable catch of fish. He doesn’t believe himself worthy to collaborate with Jesus who can perform such a miracle. His partners, James and John are also dumbfounded.
How often do we feel a similar unworthiness to collaborate with the Lord? We see the amazing, selfless, loving, and giving person of Jesus
and are astonished by his deeds. We look at ourselves and see our limitations, sinfulness, and selfishness. How can Jesus call me to serve him?
In these moments, we need to remind ourselves that our call comes from God. We may not understand why, but Jesus chooses us. Jesus trusts and has faith in us. He wants us as we are. He wants the person he has made us to be.
While we may not see his reasoning, we are invited to have faith in God’s hidden logic in the calls he places on our lives.
Am I astonished by the work of God in my life? Do I feel unworthy to collaborate with God? Can I have the same trust and faith that God has in me?
