Peter recognises that Jesus is the Son of the Living God. What does it mean for God to be living?
In terms of the doctrine of the Trinity, the Father, Son, and Spirit exist in a kind of eternal dance together. The Father delights in the Son, the Son honours the Father, and the Holy Spirit is the bond that unites them. A living God points to a dynamic,
life-giving communion at the very heart of the Trinity.
It was out of this divine generosity that Jesus came to us as the Messiah. It was from this wellspring of goodness that the Father sent him to draw us into his embrace. Through the work of the Spirit, we are invited to share in this divine communion with God and extend that same grace to others.
We, too, can be daughters and sons of the living God by caring for one
another.
How do you want to express the love you have for Jesus and for others this week?
