The version of Peter’s confession in Matthew is the only one that includes Jesus blessing Peter. This is a precious example of Jesus giving his blessing to a disciple.
What would it be like to be blessed directly by God? We know from our faith that God loves us. If someone says to us, “God loves you”, a natural response is, “Oh, I know that!” But do we know
this from a personal experience of being loved by God in some concrete and practical way?
We can ask God to show us his favour in prayer, to help us be aware of his blessing in a personal way. He may respond by giving us joy at his presence in our lives. During our examen at the end of the day, the Spirit could show us how blessed we are through the people God has given us as friends.
How do you want God to bless
you today? What would you like God to do for you that would help you truly to know his favour and love?
