This verse says something incredibly important. It says that the purpose of the Bible is not to comprehensively record all the facts that can be proclaimed about Jesus. According to this verse, what has been written is for us, so that we may believe in the one sent by God.
The Bible would have done its job, therefore, if what we read helps us to have a vital
and living relationship with Jesus. Furthermore, our friendship with Jesus is not just another relationship amongst so many others in our lives. It is a central companionship that is meant to give us true life.
A friend sometimes writes a few lines in an email or letter. This is to reach out to another, perhaps to share something special with them. The recipient of this message is invited to respond in return.
Can you imagine
that the Risen Lord has written something in scripture just for you? If you can imagine this, what is he saying to you today? How do you wish to respond to him?
