Jesus was a man on a mission. God sent him to gather his children to him. The Risen Jesus is still gathering us to God. He says to each one of us, “Come, come to the Father.”
We can experience a call from Jesus in many ways: that yearning in our hearts to spend a few quiet moments in prayer; that soft voice in our minds that says, ‘slow down, and taste life
for a bit’; the desire in us to reach out to others who are struggling around us.
Jesus never gives up calling out to us. He is always knocking on our doors, anxious to see if we will let him in. Jesus said that we should knock and believe that the door will be opened for us (Matthew 7:7). That’s because Jesus himself is persistently knocking and has faith that our doors will be opened, eventually.
Will we open
our doors for Christ this Easter? If we do, will we follow the One who is calling us?
