In a world filled with uncertainty, fear, constant change and immense suffering, Jesus offers his followers something that no one else can: his peace. This is not a temporary or surface-level calm, but a deep, abiding peace that comes from Christ’s presence and promises.
Jesus spoke these words to his disciples as he prepared to depart from them. He knew that
after he was gone, they would face confusion, persecution, and grief. Yet, in the face of it all, he offered them his peace—peace not rooted in circumstances, but in God.
Unlike so many superficial offers of peace in the world, which at best offer fleeting comforts and fragile security, Jesus gives a peace that steadies our hearts in every storm. It’s a peace that doesn’t require everything to make sense or go our way. It flows from trusting the One in control,
even when life feels chaotic.
When our hearts are troubled or afraid, we are invited to return to this promise from Jesus. Jesus tells us we don’t have to live overwhelmed by fear. His peace is available to us all.
What is currently troubling or unsettling our hearts? How can we turn to Jesus and receive his peace today?
