A relationship is a way in which two or more people are connected. We have different types of relationships in our lives, including family, extended family, friends, romantic partners, and coworkers, to name a few. Each type of relationship comes with different expectations, benefits, and challenges. Every kind of relationship presents a different dynamic as well. I believe the work
relationship is one that comes with a clear set of rules and guidelines, and it is perhaps stricter; however, it can be filled with joy and fulfilment.
When we reflect on our various relationships, we can see that love is the primary ingredient that can be found in all of them. Loves invites us to consider the other, to please the other. When we truly love something or someone, we want to avoid doing anything that would betray this
love or hurt them.
Jesus reminds us that love should motivate our response to his presence, to keeping his word, not fear of being punished or not getting our prayer answered. When this active love is present, Jesus and our Father will come and make their dwelling in us. Meaning that whoever loves Jesus and keeps his commandments, the Father will love them as well, and the Holy Spirit will be with them.
Love is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, and we have the Holy Spirit in and with us. We know the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit dwells in all of us.
How can I continue to serve and love those I am in a relationship with better? Where in my life at the moment might the Holy Spirit be leading me to show love? Spaces where I am unlikely to consider? How do I respond to this leading of the Holy
Spirit?
