Jesus tells us that the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in Jesus’ name, will teach us everything and remind us of what Jesus told us. We must remember that the Holy Spirit becomes our guide when we meditate on scripture. The Bible is our book, but the Holy Spirit is our teacher, who will open our minds to everything that Jesus teaches us in Scripture.
We also realise that it is the Holy Spirit who brings together the community of believers and followers of Christ, just as the Holy Spirit brought life and order into the world and continues to do that today. Truly, the Holy Spirit is the moving force behind every activity of Jesus Christ and his followers.
We are Christ’s followers. The Holy Spirit is the moving force behind all our activities,
leading and directing us. Therefore we don’t have to worry too much about what to say, Jesus reminds us, for the Holy Spirit will “reveal to us the truth about God,” and will lead us “into all truth.” (Jn 16:13) We are not on our own in our different works and ministries.
St. Paul says that we are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19). Our thoughts, words, and deeds should be inspired by the Holy Spirit, whose task it is to bring
harmony, order, and beauty into lives that might otherwise be overwhelmed by chaos.
I invite you to reflect on yourself as the temple of the Holy Spirit. We often speak of holiness in sacred places and Saints, excluding ourselves. You are holy. The Holy Spirit lives in you. Sit with this today.
