In Scripture, peace is more than just the absence of conflict — it is a deep, lasting harmony rooted in God’s presence. As we light the second Advent candle of Peace, we reflect on the ways Jesus calls us to be peacemakers in our lives, showing kindness, understanding, and forgiveness to others.
Imagine the world that Isaiah
describes in these verses: little children not afraid of wolves, lions, and snakes. May we as adults continue to seek peace, but not cheap peace at the cost of our children. May we seek the peace Jesus embraced – peace that stands for righteousness and justice for the most vulnerable in our communities – children, the elderly, the vulnerable, and the voiceless. By standing up for them, in kindness, understanding and compassion, let us help those who can stand up for others to treat them justly
and with respect. May we also lead them to the Prince of Peace, the only one who can give them lasting and eternal peace.
Who in our families and communities needs more kindness, understanding, forgiveness and compassion, especially during this Advent and Christmas season?
