There is a highway in Cape Town that remains unfinished, the Foreshore Freeway Bridge. As you approach the V&A Waterfront, it stands as a reminder of what happens when a project begins but lacks the resources to be completed.
It is easy to smile at the futility of that bridge, yet how often do we consider the cost of giving our
lives to Christ? We may offer him what feels convenient, but true discipleship sometimes demands the surrender of what we hold most dear.
This is not a call to despise the good things that we love. Instead, it is an invitation to discover the surpassing love of Christ. With his grace, our love for him can grow beyond measure, enabling us to put him first in all things.
If
God deepens my love for Christ, do I understand what that could ask of me?
