At the end of November, we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. This feast acknowledges Christ as Lord of all, the ruler of the universe.
Today’s Gospel reading can be imagined as a meeting of two kings. If we stood with our small army against Christ’s far greater strength, we would know the outcome: surrender would be the only
path.
Yet Christ does not conquer us by force. His way is love, a patient love, tender, and unyielding in its power. It is this love—not violence or domination—that draws us into his Kingdom.
The invitation is not to resist but to yield. To let ourselves be overcome, not by might, but by mercy.
Where am I still
holding back from the love of Christ? What would it look like, today, to give into this love?
