The resurrection of Jesus brings a new and everlasting hope. It is the culmination of God’s greatest gift of love to us. Jesus’ death and resurrection won the battle over everything that seeks to destroy the eternal life God offers us. This fills us with a profound joy and peace. It is part of the mystery of God’s love, which God protects for all eternity.
We may not have physically witnessed Jesus’ resurrection or touched his hands or his side, but we feel the ramifications of his death and resurrection within us. Our faith is strengthened each time we remember with gratitude. This, in turn, stirs in us a desire to share the good news with others, so that they, too, may find hope. Yes, there will be challenges that try to disrupt this hope. Let’s be honest, at present, there are many worrying
matters going on in our world, in our neighbourhoods, even in our own homes and hearts. But despite this, we can hold onto what Jesus has done for us and find renewed hope every morning.
Take a moment to consider what might be trying to disrupt your felt sense of God’s love, joy, peace or hope. Hold it before God without judgement.
Stay with this for a while until you
sense Jesus with you as you consider it.
If your challenge remains, ask Jesus what you might do with him about it.
If it lifts completely, let the joy rise within you.
You may consider sharing what happened with someone to encourage their faith.
Perhaps you would like to conclude your prayer
with the words of this great hymn:
