In and of ourselves, we have no life. The Father, our creator, has given us life. Just as he gave life to Adam, he formed us in our mothers’ wombs and gave us breath. As believers, we can be assured that the living God created us. We owe our lives to God.
Jesus was also created by the Father and given human
form to draw us back to the Father. The Father always wants to draw his people back, and he provides for them on their journey of life and faith. During the exodus from Egypt and the journey to the promised land through the desert, the Father provided food to strengthen the people physically and spiritually. However, not all of them kept their faith. When the journey became too long, they began to doubt and distrust Moses and God. The life-giving miraculous manna was not enough for them to keep
the faith.
Jesus is the living bread who came down from heaven; his words, body, and blood are life-giving, promising us that we will live forever with him.
What do we do when faced with life’s challenges?
In our deepest being, do we believe Jesus’ words?
Do we regularly partake of the body and blood of Jesus to be strengthened?
