Jesus explains the parable to his disciples, shifting the focus to the certainty of the final harvest at the end of the age. He tells them that the angels will gather all causes of sin and law-breakers, and cast them into the fiery furnace. This is a reminder to us that justice is not an illusion. While God is incredibly patient, allowing good and evil to grow together for a season,
his tolerance of wickedness has a definitive end date. The world will not remain broken forever.
We are called to be patient. We are reassured that God sees and knows our challenges and pain, and evil will not have the final word. We are also called to be accountable and to examine our own lives carefully. We must ensure we are truly children of the kingdom, living in active obedience to Christ, rather than merely
blending into the field while producing no real spiritual fruit for his glory. We are forced to consider what our true spiritual legacy will be.
