Think back on your previous week. Did you come across a stranger? Are you aware of someone who is not included in the world you know? Are they in a different position to you, unable to access the things you may take for granted?

It may be someone you passed on the streets, saw on the news, or spoke to. As that person comes to mind, spend some time asking God how you can respond to this person. What needs to be done to enable this person to be a part of our communities? What structural and political changes are required? Do we need to be critical of our assumptions and prejudices? Do I need to ask more questions and take less for granted?

Is God calling us to welcome someone and ask them to stay? Are we invited to understand someone else’s world, stay there, be present and understand, until we leave?

Lord God,

As I journey today, may I know your closeness. May I be guided in each encounter with known neighbours and unknown strangers, may I have grace from the learning of yesterday and be enlightened by the possibilities of today, altogether being thankful for the simple offerings of this new dawn.

Amen.

Situated in the seaside town of Zinkwazi, on the Natal north coast, the venue boasts private access to the beach. You can walk for kilometres in either direction. The Zinkwazi River lagoon and swimming beach is a 400m walk from the house.  There is also a swimming pool on the property.

The peaceful chapel looks out onto the breaking waves of the Indian Ocean. There are many spacious and private places to pray on the property. Sit and watch the waves from the deck or take a stroll in the village.

Let your stresses evaporate as you fall asleep to the sound of the ocean in the spacious and comfortable single rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Each room has a private patio where you can sit and enjoy the song of the birds and the ever-present sound of the sea.

Delicious meals are prepared by a well-trained cook.
