And we will open our hands
to the feast
without shame.
And we will turn
toward each other
without fear.
And we will give up
our appetite
for despair.
And we will taste
and know
of delight.
And we will become bread
for a hungering world.
And we will become drink
for those who thirst.
And the blessed
will become the blessing.
And everywhere
will be the feast.

The challenge for today’s world is to have a standard of life that all people can share. In so doing, we have to think about how our individual actions of what we consume, buy and spend our time and money on affects our nearest neighbours and those across the world.
We cannot continue consuming in the same way if we want the better world we imagine or dream of. We need to integrate our personal economic practices with our spiritual values.
In the quietness of this moment, imagine you are the rich man in front of Jesus. What would Jesus be encouraging you to do? Would it change the way you think about money, to live with the understanding that we are abundantly provided for?
